  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Google Synchronization.
  4. Tap to select (turn on) or clear (turn off) the following check boxes:

Restore

Your content will automatically be restored when you sign into your device for the first time.

Reset your device

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It doesn't delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

Master reset with settings menu

Android version 1.5
  1. Back up all necessary data.
  2. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap SD card & storage.
  5. Tap Factory data reset.
  6. Tap Reset phone.
  7. Tap Eraseeverything.

Android version 2.1
  1. Back up all necessary data.
  2. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Privacy.
  5. Tap Factory data reset.
  6. Tap Reset Phone.
  7. Tap Erase Everything.

Master reset with hardware keys

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys.

  1. If the device is responsive, back up all necessary data.
  2. Verify that you have your MOTOBLUR username and password. You will need this to log back into the device after the reset, unless you plan to make a new account.
  3. Turn off the phone
  4. Press and hold the Camera key.
  5. Press the Lock/Power key to turn the phone back on, and continue to hold the Camera key while the phone starts.
  6. When prompted, release the Camera key.
  7. On the BOOTLOADER MENU screen, press and release the Volume down key to enter Recovery Mode. 'VOLUME DOWN KEY PRESSED' appears on the screen. You only have 10 seconds to complete this step before the phone turns on. If the phone restarts, return to step 1.
    • When the Triangle! screen appears, open the keyboard.
    • Press Alt+L to access the Motorola system recovery screen. If the keyboard is not working, then close the keyboard, hold the phone right-side up, and tap the lower-right corner of the display
      • Select wipe data/factory reset [Alt+W]. You can use the touch display, volume up/down keys, or the navigational key to scroll to the selection.
      • Tap Ok.
      • When the reset is complete and the phone returns to the Motorola system recovery screen, select reboot system now [Menu+Back].
      • Tap Ok.
      • When the phone turns on, it displays the MOTOBLUR setup screen. Sign in to your account or create a new one.
